The Anti-Corruption Alliance UNCAC Chile (Alianza Anticorrupción UNCAC Chile) was created in 2012 by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile and the United Nations Development Programme. It is a permanent and voluntary initiative that consists of 34 members from the public sector, private sector, civil society organisations and academia. It comprises five working groups: promotion of integrity; capacity building; standards and good practices; legislative proposals; and communications.
The Chilean integrity system comprises a series of public institutions with different mandates around anti-corruption. Complying with the UNCAC principles poses the challenge of coordinating those entities towards effective actions to promote integrity. Furthermore, corruption is a complex phenomenon that not only applies to the public sector; it requires significant cross-sector efforts to make a difference.
The Anticorruption Alliance UNCAC offers an innovative platform that gathers all sectors under a common objective: developing initiatives to implement the UNCAC principles effectively.
Our activities and achievements:
- Creation of codes of ethics in municipalities through a participative methodology.
- Development of a series of training webinars on anti-corruption with panelists of all sectors.
- Launch of guidance documents, including actions to tackle corruption during the COVID-19 pandemic and the basis of integrity systems in the private sector.
- Permanent legislative monitoring to comply with the UNCAC principles.
